Harvard Negotiation and Mediation Clinical Program

The Harvard Negotiation and Mediation Clinical Program (HNMCP) provides Harvard Law School students with practical, real-world experience in the fields of negotiation, dispute resolution and conflict management, with a focus on conflict mapping and dispute systems design. PON Graduate Research Fellowships

The Program on Negotiation Graduate Research Fellowships are designed to encourage young scholars from the social sciences and professional disciplines to pursue theoretical, empirical, and/or applied research in negotiation and dispute resolution. Consistent with the PON goal of fostering the development of the next generation of scholars, this program provides support for one year of dissertation research and writing in negotiation and related topics in alternative dispute resolution, as well as giving fellows an opportunity to immerse themselves in the diverse array of resources available at PON. PON Graduate Student Grants

The Program on Negotiation Graduate Student Grants Program has been designed to encourage scholarship in the fields of negotiation and conflict resolution, with the aim of supporting cutting edge research at the graduate level. Awards will be for specific research projects, not for general student support or tuition payments. Grants are limited to $1,000. Scholars may request funding to cover direct costs for research such as subject compensation, remuneration for required support personnel, travel costs for data collection, transcription, project specific software, and other direct research expenses. (These funds are not for salary support or travel to present research.) Students from any Boston-area school may apply. Proposals will be reviewed twice a year. PON Next Generation Grants

The Program on Negotiation’s Next Generation Grants Program supports research in negotiation and conflict resolution by non-tenured faculty and doctoral students. Faculty and students from any school or department within PON’s inter-university consortium (Harvard, MIT, Tufts Fletcher School) may apply. Post-doctoral students with a formal affiliation to Harvard or one of our consortium schools are also welcome to apply. Awards will be for specific research projects, not for general student support or tuition payments. Doctoral student grants are limited to $5,000. Non-tenured, tenure-track faculty grants are limited to $10,000, of which no more than $5,000 should be for personnel. Scholars may request funding to cover direct costs for research such as subject compensation, remuneration for required support personnel, travel costs for data collection, transcription, project specific software, and other direct research expenses. (These funds are not for faculty salary support or travel to present research.) Successful proposals should outline research that will lead to journal publication in the leading outlets of the discipline of the author. PON’s goal is to support new scholarship, with specific focus on the next generation of scholars in negotiation and conflict resolution. Proposals will be reviewed twice a year. Student Events

PON organizes a large number of events each month to give students, academics, practitioners and the public the opportunity to engage in discussions with leading scholars in the field. These events include Dispute Resolution Forums (DRF), the Kelman Seminar Series, the PON Film Series, and the PON Brown Bag Lunch Series. Read More 

Summer Fellowship Grants

PON sponsors grants for select students at Harvard University, MIT, Tufts University and other Boston-area schools who undertake internships or summer research projects in negotiation and dispute resolution in partnership with public, non-profit or academic organizations. The Summer Fellowship Program’s emphasis is on advancing the links between scholarship and practice in negotiation and dispute resolution by supporting students interested in exploring career paths, either professional or academic, in this field. Through this program, PON hopes to prepare students to assume leadership positions in the field of negotiation and dispute resolution, to forge new links between our academic community and worldwide organizations involved in the practice of negotiation and dispute resolution, and to encourage students to reach for opportunities that would otherwise not be available to them due to financial constraints.
