Whitney Benns serves as a Lecturer on Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education — where she built the negotiation program with colleagues in 2016 — and as a Lecturer on Law at the Harvard Law School.
Whitney has a robust practice as a consultant and facilitator helping organizations and collectives that are negotiating strategy and relationships. She helps her clients tap into the potential of generative conflict, honest communication, negotiation, and feedback to build more accountable, equitable, and thriving organizations and communities. She works with clients across sectors, focusing on supporting educators, school leaders, and social justice advocates, organizers and their funders.
Whitney received her J.D. from Harvard Law School and her B.S. in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Utah. She is trained in emergent strategy facilitation, structural dynamics, family systems, dispute systems design, and mediation. She was born and raised in a valley within the Rocky Mountains, and now splits her time between St. Louis, Missouri and Cambridge, Massachusetts.
