Prof. Susskind's Top 5 Environmental Negotiation Teaching Materials

From time to time, the PON Clearinghouse asks PON-affiliated faculty to nominate their top five books, top five teaching videos or top five role-play simulations in certain fields or teaching settings.  These change periodically.

The Program on Negotiation Clearinghouse offers a range of materials, including role-play simulations, videos, books, periodicals and case studies. Most of the materials in the Clearinghouse are designed for educational purposes, whether in college classroom settings or in corporate training settings, by mediators and facilitators introducing their clients to a process or issue, or by individuals looking to enhance their skills and knowledge independently. The role-play simulations provide particularly useful ways to facilitate experimentation, introducing participants to new negotiation and dispute resolution tools, techniques and strategies. Videos are also a helpful way of introducing viewers to key concepts. The books, case studies and periodicals available in the Clearinghouse address both the theory and practice of negotiation and conflict management.

Materials in the Clearinghouse cover negotiation-related issues in a wide range of areas, from climate change to ethics. Some of the themes are substantive (e.g., environment or business development), some target specific sectors (e.g., health care), others address particular contexts (e.g., cross-cultural negotiation) and still others are process oriented (e.g., facilitation).
