Religion, Conflict, & Peace Student Discussion Group Kick-Off Meeting
Semester Kick-off Meeting!
Tuesday, October 27th, 6:00 PM
The Religion, Conflict, and Peace (RCP) Student Discussion Group is composed of students from the Boston area who are interested in the broad topic of the role of religion in politics — particularly in conflict regions throughout the world. The group has been meeting for five years to discuss cutting-edge topics on the intersection of religion, conflict, and peacemaking. Recognizing the many opportunities across Harvard’s campus to hear formal lectures and speeches on this pressing topic, the student discussion group aims to create an intimate space for students, professors, visiting lecturers, and researchers to meet. Past events have included: Islam’s Relationship to Terrorism and Tolerance with Professor John Esposito, Georgetown University, UN Alliance for Civilization; Economic Globalization and the Rise of Hindu Nationalism in India by Professor Anne Monius, Harvard Divinity School; Conflict, Religious Beliefs, and Peacemaking: Reflections on Time Spent at the U.S. Institute of Peace with Professor David Little, Harvard Divinity School; and New Political Directions in the Middle East: Cultural Challenges and Possibilities in Syria and Saudi Arabia by Professor Marc Gopin, George Mason University.
If you cannot make it, but are interested in being a part of this group, or if you would like to send us your ideas, please contact either Brian Haggerty, brian.haggerty@gmail.com or Rositsa Atanasova, ratanaso@gmail.com.
We encourage all who share personal, professional, and intellectual interest in the broad topic to attend!
RCP is a student interest organziation based out of the Program on Negotiation (PON) at Harvard Law School.
