Professor George Loewenstein of the Department of Social and Decision Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University will lead a seminar on Thursday, November 8. The Program on Negotiation invites all interested parties to this meeting of its series on Psychological Processes in Negotiation. Professor Loewenstein will be speaking from 4:00-5:30 in William James Hall, Room 1 (in the basement).
The title of his talk is Implications of the Self-serving Bias for Conflicts of Interest. He will discuss and draw connections between two lines of research, one on self-serving biases in negotiations and the other on mechanisms underlying conflicts of interest. The objective is to show that conflicts of interest cannot be avoided through the professionalism of the involved parties because they occur as a result of self-serving biases that are unconscious and unintentional.
After the talk, refreshments will be served in the 2nd floor lounge of William James.
