Laila Atshan is a Mason Fellow at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. She has devoted her life to working as a psychologist with Palestinians afflicted by the Israeli occupation. Laila was a consultant to international organizations, including UNICEF, where she helped establish and supervise 11 psychosocial emergency teams in the West Bank from 2002-2011. Some of her other recent assignments include training UN staff working in the Darfur conflict zone, training university professors in Iraq on the promotion and implementation of human rights in the context of conflict, and supervising mental health workers in Jordan who assist Iraqi refugees. Laila has also been legally blind since birth and this has allowed her to transcend limitations; she is an avid swimmer, horseback-rider, musician, and world traveler.

Dina Kraft is a journalist who has spent over a decade covering Israeli and Palestinian politics and society. Her reporting has ranged from covering children caught in the crossfire of the conflict to solar technology, Bedouin genetic diseases and Israeli and Palestinian women dieting together. She has regularly contributed to American and British newspapers including The New York Times and The Daily Telegraph. Her work has appeared in O Magazine, The Washington Post, Slate, and the VillageVoice. A former Associated Press correspondent in Jerusalem and Johannesburg, she’s reported from throughout Africa, Jordan, Turkey, Pakistan, Tunisia, Russia and Ukraine.

  • This has been a great event that inspired me to learn more and understand more the place of woman and what they are going through in places like those ones. What is on the schedule for this year?
