About the Speaker:
H.E. Miroslav Lajčák was appointed deputy prime minister and minister of foreign and European affairs of the Slovak Republic in April 2012. From December 2010 through April 2012, Minister Lajčák served as the managing director for Europe and Central Asia for the European External Action Service, after serving as minister of foreign affairs of the Slovak Republic from 2009 to 2010. He also served as director-general for political affairs in the Slovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs, before becoming high representative and EU special representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2007. In 2006, Minister Lajčák represented the EU as supervisor to the 2006 Montenegrin independence referendum.
