Speaker Bio

Leo Smyth obtained his Master’s degree in psychology from University College Dublin, Ireland, and his doctorate from the University of Utrecht, The Netherlands. He spent most of his working life teaching and researching at the National University of Ireland, Galway. Following sabbatical leave as a Visiting Scholar at the Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School, he introduced negotiation courses in Galway at both undergraduate and MBA level. He has collaborated in research with the University of Missouri-Columbia where he is a Senior Fellow at the Center for the Study of Dispute Resolution. He was part of the international advisory panel for the Beyond Intractability project at the University of Colorado and has lectured widely in Europe and the USA. Now retired, he continues both academic writing and creative work for radio and theatre.
