PON Appoints Two New Members to the PON Executive Committee

The Program on Negotiation (PON) at Harvard Law School, is pleased to announce the appointment of two new members to its Executive Committee: Dr. Julia Minson and Dr. Daniel Shapiro.

The Program on Negotiation (PON) at Harvard Law School, is pleased to announce the appointment of two new members to its Executive Committee: Dr. Julia Minson and Dr. Daniel Shapiro. Their election, supported overwhelmingly by current members, reflects their exceptional contributions to the fields of negotiation, decision-making, and peacebuilding.

Daniel Shapiro is the founder and director of the Harvard International Negotiation Program and an associate professor at Harvard Medical School/McLean Hospital. A globally recognized expert on the emotional and identity-based dimensions of conflict, he has advised leaders across the Middle East, Europe, and East Asia, and chaired the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Conflict Resolution. At PON, he teaches executive education courses including Negotiation and Leadership: Dealing with Difficult People and Problems. He is the author of Negotiating the Nonnegotiable and co-author of Beyond Reason: Using Emotions as You Negotiate, and has been named one of Harvard’s top 15 professors for teaching excellence.

Julia A. Minson is an Associate Professor of Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School, specializing in the psychology of disagreement, judgment, and decision-making. She leads the Minson Conflict and Collaboration Lab (MC²), where her research focuses on improving dialogue across political and ideological divides. Through PON, she teaches executive education programs, including the one-day course Negotiating When Parties Have Diverse, Deeply Held Convictions and contributes to negotiation and decision-making training through Harvard Kennedy School and Harvard Business School Executive Education.

Their leadership will help advance PON’s mission to equip individuals and organizations with the skills to resolve conflict, lead effectively, and achieve meaningful outcomes.”

Minson and Shapiro join an esteemed Executive Committee of negotiation experts, led by faculty Chair Prof. Guhan Subramanian, and including colleagues from across Havard Business, School, Kennedy School of Government, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
