About the Speaker:
Dr. Mohammad Shtayyeh is the current minister for the Palestinian Economic Council for Development and Reconstruction (PECDAR), a former Minister of Public Works and Housing, and has been a senior member of the Palestinian Delegation to the final status Talks with Israel.
Dr. Shtayyeh has a decorated career in Palestinian public service. He has previously headed the Palestinian Delegation to the Multilateral Talks on Regional Economic Cooperation and served as Secretary General of the Palestinian Central Elections Commission. In addition to official offices held, Dr. Shtayyeh was president of the Palestinian Center for Regional Studies, a professor at Birzeit University, and is the president of the Board of Trustees of Arab-American University and the vice-president of the Board of Trustees of Al-Quds University. Dr. Shtayyeh received his Ph.D. in Development Studies from Sussex University in England. He has published several books on the Palestine-Israel struggle and the economic development of Palestine.
