HLS Students Win First Place in International Negotiation Competition

On April 6, three Harvard Law School students took home the first place trophy from The Negotiation Challenge in Leipzig, Germany. René A. Pfromm, LL.M. ’08, Jessica Price ’08 and Stefan A. Neata ’08, were part of the winning team comprised of HLS students and students from UC Hastings College of the Law.

On November 22, 2004 in the Ukraine the regime-controlled media claimed victory for Viktor Yanukovych, handpicked by the corrupt sitting president. But credible exit polls showed Viktor Yushchenko, the opposition candidate, had won. It was shocking enough that Yushchenko had been poisoned — and nearly killed– while on the campaign trail. When reports came in of blatant voter intimidation and damaged ballots, people were outraged. When they realized election officials were in on the fraud, the people had had enough.

NP@PON held a one-day Negotiation Pedagogy Workshop on Saturday, December 8, 2007. The workshop took place on the Harvard Law School campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and featured sessions on new and lesser-known negotiation teaching tools as well as on broader curriculum design and educational principles. The workshop was open to the public and geared toward those who teach negotiation and dispute resolution at the graduate and undergraduate level. We expect to offer a follow up workshop in 2009.

Negotiation Workshop for High-Level Managers in Russia

Robert C. Bordone, the Thaddeus R. Beal Assistant Clinical Professor of Law at Harvard Law School and director of the Harvard Negotiation and Mediation Clinical Program, taught a negotiation workshop for high-level managers working in Russia. The two-day seminar also raised $50,000 for United Way Moscow.
