Welcome!

The Program on Negotiation (PON) has a variety of opportunities for students at all levels who are interested in conflict resolution. We offer fellowship and grant programs for graduate students. The Student Interest Group (SIG) brings together over 500 students from Boston-area schools who are intersted in negotiation and conflict resolution. And the Dispute Resolution Directory is a catalog of courses and internship opportunities in the Greater Boston area. Please explore all we have to offer!

Graduate Research Fellowships:

Graduate Research Fellowships are designed to encourage scholars from the social sciences and professional disciplines to pursue theoretical, empirical, and/or applied research in negotiation and dispute resolution.

Next Generation Grants:

Next Generation Grants support research in negotiation and conflict resolution by non-tenured faculty and doctoral students within the interuniversity consortium.

Harvard Negotiation and Mediation Clinical Program:

The Harvard Negotiation and Mediation Clinical Program (HNMCP) provides HLS students with practical, real-world experience in the fields of negotiation, dispute resolution, and conflict management, with a particular focus on conflict mapping and dispute systems design. Students in the program are paired with outside organizations, institutions, or individuals who provide projects related to negotiation, dispute resolution, or conflict management.

Student Interest Group:

The Program on Negotiation Student Interest Group (SIG) provides a number of ways for students in the Boston-area to get involved through discussion groups, career events, speaker events, and the SIG listserv.

PON Seminars:

PON Seminars are semester-length courses (Negotiation and Dispute Resolution in the fall, Mediation and Participatory Processes in the spring) that increase public awareness and understanding of successful conflict resolution efforts.

Consortium Schools:

In addition to PON Seminars, a variety of courses in negotiation and dispute resolution are offered at each of PON's consortium schools: Harvard Business School, Harvard Law School, Harvard University, John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Simmons College, The Fletcher School, Tufts University.

Dispute Resolution Directory:

The Dispute Resolution Directory is a catalog of courses and internship opportunities in the Greater Boston area for students interested in the field of dispute resolution.

Dispute Resolution Forum:

The Program on Negotiation's Dispute Resolution Forum (DRF) is an exciting place to gain new knowledge and share information with colleagues in the field. The practitioner-oriented DRF is attended by alternative dispute resolution (ADR) professionals from Boston and the surrounding area, as well as scholars and graduate students.

Negotiation Newsletter:

The Program on Negotiation publishes the monthly Negotiation newsletter that offers practical advice and guidance for developing and honing your negotiation skills in a quick-reading format.

Negotiation Journal:

The Program on Negotiation also produces the Negotiation Journal. The Journal is an internationally known quarterly that is eclectic both in its contents and its readership. It strives to offer a publication that is useful to everyone interested in the practice and analysis of dispute resolution-lawyers, diplomats, labor negotiators, government officials, family mediators, and businesspeople (among others), as well as scholars in these varied fields.

Harvard Negotiation Law Review:

Harvard Law Students publish the Harvard Negotiation Law Review, housed in the Program on Negotiation office. The Harvard Negotiation Law Review is aimed specifically at lawyers and legal scholars exploring and analyzing "legal negotiation"- negotiation with lawyers in the middle and legal institutions in the background.

Negotiations Research Network:

The Negotiations Research Network (NEG), part of the Social Science Research Network (SSRN), is an on-line venue providing access to working papers and professional announcements of interest to the negotiation and dispute resolution community.

News, Events, Calendar, and Webcasts:

Students are always welcome at any of our events, including the PON Film Series, lectures, and brown bag lunches.
