Negotiation and Nonviolent Action Student
Task Force

This Negotiation and Nonviolent Action Student Task Force is a unique opportunity to learn a substantial amount about nonviolent action and its role in the world while also digging deeper into its intersection with the field of negotiation. This student group had the opportunity to do research, writing and content-organizing for the PON December 4, 2006 symposium, Negotiation: The Hidden Dimension of the Nonviolent Struggles of our Era, with Guest of Honor Ela Gandhi and Dr. William Ury, Director of the Global Negotiation Project. In 2007, the group will continue to explore the intersection of negotiation and nonviolent action as well as coordinate a training opportunity for students.

Past Events

Writing analyses of current crises (Darfur, Israel/Palestine, Iran) comparing the approaches of nonviolent action and negotiation.

Viewing and discussion of the film A Force More Powerful, produced by Jack DuVall.

Preparation of briefing paper and questions for the PON Symposium Negotiation: The Hidden Dimension of the Nonviolent Struggles of our Era.
