Conflict in Africa

By asking why the African continent has been so prone to conflict and how these conflicts have affected African society, the "Conflict in Africa" student discussion group will provide participants with a deeper understanding of the underlying causes and impacts of this cycle of violence and inform our personal and professional search for solutions.

Drawing on each others' knowledge and experiences, guest lectures, and selected readings, we will explore themes including: Islam and Africa; Colonialism; Natural Resource Distribution; Economics and Conflict; Child Soldiering; Democracy Building; and Border Wars.
