Join the Program on Negotiation for a discussion with Professor Maarten Hajer and Lecturer David Laws on the efforts by Amsterdam politicians to manage ethnic tensions after the murder of Dutch filmmaker Theo Van Gogh.
The speakers will also address the development of a conflict database in Amsterdam as an attempt to understand conflicts throughout the city.
 Maarten Hajer is Professor of Political Science and Public Policy in the Department of Political Science at the University of Amsterdam. He is currently working on a method to analyze policy processes in terms of discourse and deliberation.
 David Laws is a Lecturer in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning at MIT, where he received his Ph.D. His research investigates how questions of value, such as intergenerational fairness, may be approached through negotiation.
