    Appoligies work when you take ownership of your mistake, acknowledge the harm done, say what you will do to prevent a recurrance and then ask for your appology to be accepted. Reply

    I've been a member of a 12 step recovery process for over 30 years. One of the best ways I've heard of incorporating the above mentioned facets of I'm sorry is to say, "I am sorry and what can I do to make it right." Of course, one might say, as in the labor negotiation, just give me my money and then I'll be happy. But, an apology can always include some way of making it right even if it means just inviting the other side to lunch. Reply
