    No surprise here. People respect those who show remorse, whether they truly feel it or not and then express taking responsibility. Deny your mistake or failing, blame it on others or try to side-step the issue and people are naturally going to see you an extremely poor light and doubt you from that point forward, your credibility, if not shattered, surely greatly damaged.
