Building consensus among regulators and the oil and gas industry about how to avoid future oil spills may be easier than previously thought. In this posting, Lawrence Susskind suggests establishing an industry-run watchdog group modeled on the nuclear power industry’s organization. Susskind shows that such a collaborative effort manages risk and ensures smooth operations.
