How much does it cost?

Programs vary in price:

One five-day program  – $4,500

Two five-day programs  – $7,250

(Please note that this discounted rate is for one individual taking two courses.)

Two-day program $3,000


Is reduced tuition offered?

Reduced tuition is available for judges, government officials, full-time teachers, full-time staff, and lawyers* at public interest organizations. The reduced rates are as follows:

One five-day program  – $3,500

Two five-day programs  – $7,000

Two-day program – $3,000

If you would like to apply for reduced tuition, please select the reduced payment with your application and submit a letter of employment verification from your employer.

*The Harvard Negotiation Institute may, at its discretion, waive or reduce the course fees for any attorney, ABA member, or non-member who wishes to attend a Harvard Negotiation Institute program, but for whom the cost would be a financial hardship. Requests for tuition waivers along with an explanation of hardship must be received in writing at the time of registration via email at hni@law.harvard.edu. Because registration in advance is required to attend Harvard Negotiation Institute programs, requests for tuition waivers or reductions cannot be accepted at the door.

Where are the programs held?

The Harvard Negotiation Institute programs are held at Harvard Law School in Cambridge, Massachusetts.


Can I attend if I’m not a lawyer?

Yes, the programs are open to professionals and others seeking comprehensive learning in negotiation and mediation. Participants from a wide variety of professions find these programs invaluable.


When and where is registration/check-in?

Registration for Week 1 programs takes place at Harvard Law School on Sunday, June 3, 2012, from 3:00 p.m.—5:00 p.m. and Monday, June 4, 2012, from 7:00 a.m.—9:00 a.m.

Registration for Week 2 programs takes place at Harvard Law School on Sunday, June 10, 2012, from 3:00 p.m.—5:00 p.m. and Monday, June 11, 2012, from 7:00 a.m.—9:00 a.m.

Registration for the Two-Day Intensive Negotiation Program takes place at Harvard Law School on Thursday, June 14, 2012, from 7:00 a.m.—9:00 a.m.


What forms of payment are accepted?

You can pay by credit card or a check payable to Harvard University. You can also arrange to pay by Wire Transfer by emailing hni@law.harvard.edu


When is payment required?

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee your seat until full payment is received. Keep in mind that courses fill up quickly, so please register and submit your payment as soon as possible.


How much Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credit will I receive?

The Harvard Negotiation Institute is able to grant credit to lawyers from the United States only. The number of CLE credits is calculated on a state-by-state basis. Please email hni@law.harvard.edu for more information on CLE credit.


Is there a dress code?

Business casual dress is appropriate for all program functions, classes, and receptions. Most participants dress for comfort; however, T-shirts, jeans, and shorts are not permitted. In Boston, June temperatures are warm during the day and cool in the evening.

 

Are meals included in my tuition?

Yes, tuition fees include the cost of a daily continental breakfast, lunch, and snacks. Receptions are also included.


Is lodging included in my tuition?

HNI participants are required to find lodging on their own. A list of area hotels is posted on the logistics page.


What is your cancellation policy?

Petitions for withdrawal must be received by May 25, 2012.  These petitions must be submitted in writing and will incur a cancellation fee of $150. The cancellation fee for the Mediation Workshop until May 25, 2012, is $500.  Those withdrawing after May 25, 2012, will not receive a refund.  Please note that we do not extend credits to future programs in the event of a withdrawal.
